SchoolMessenger is a notification service for parental outreach and emergency broadcasts. Parents can receive phone calls and text alerts about a range of important issues affecting their students and our school.
The SchoolMessenger system uses the contact information housed in our student information system.
How Do I Update My Contact Information?
If your contact information changes at any time throughout the school year, please provide your respective schools with updated information as soon as possible. This will ensure that you continue to receive the messages being sent out by the DeRuyter SchoolMessenger System.
How Do I Update My Contact Preferences?
If you have children who attend DeRuyter Central School and would like to modify the phone number(s) that receive phone calls, please send an e-mail to email@example.com and include your name, your child(ren)’s name(s), the phone number you would like to keep, and the phone number(s) you would like removed. Please note that you need to have at least one phone number listed in our phone system in the event of an early dismissal or emergency broadcast.
Are You Receiving Phones Calls and Not Sure Why?
You may be an emergency contact for children who attend school in the DeRuyter Central School District. If you need to remove your phone number(s) from our calling list, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name and the phone number(s) you would like removed. This will not remove you as an emergency contact in our student information system. It will just remove the phone numbers from the phone system.
If you are not an emergency contact and you do not know anyone in the DeRuyter Central School District, please send an e-mail email@example.com and include your name and phone number(s) you would like removed.
How Do I Sign Up for Text Messaging?
Parents and guardians may opt in to receive an SMS message to the wireless number the District has on file.
Parents and guardians can opt in by texting the word “Subscribe” to 68453 (you can unsubscribe at anytime by texting the word “Stop” to the same number).
Please note that the District does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by the user. These charges are dependent on the wireless plan of the user. Please check with your carrier for possible charges before deciding to “opt in.” If a parent decides to “opt out,” he or she can still receive phone calls from the system without charges being incurred.
